Scopus and BioMed: good and bad news

Good news: Scopus
Scopus is now available via the University of Hull Library (Hull Athens account required). A link will be available via the Library tab on the new HYMS VLE but in the meantime you can access the resource by going to http://library.hull.ac.uk/screens/erm_index.html. (Select Login > Athens Login from the Scopus screen.)

The subscription for Scopus is currently for one year only with a view to evaluating usage and feedback in the hope that the University will agree funding for a longer term so if you find Scopus useful please feedback to library@hyms.ac.uk.

The database covers a wide range of subject areas including scientific, technical, medical and social sciences literature.

The following is information from Scopus:

Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of research literature and quality web sources. It's designed to find the information scientists need. Quick, easy and comprehensive, Scopus provides superior support of the literature research process. Updated daily, Scopus offers.
· 15,000 peer-reviewed journals from more than 4,000 publishers
· over 1200 Open Access journals
· 500 conference proceedings
· over 600 trade publications
· 200 book series
· 33 million abstracts
· Results from 386 million scientific web pages
· 22 million patent records from 5 patent offices

Bad news: BioMed Image Archive
Please note that the Biomed Image Archive (http://www.brisbio.ac.uk/index.html) will no longer be available after 31 July 2008 as it is being withdrawn by the University of Bristol and partners due to technical and support issues.
