Wellcome Collection films now available

JISC Collections negotiated with the Wellcome Collection last year for the free inclusion of the film content from their digitisation programme in Film & Sound Online .We are now pleased to inform you that the first batch of around 200 films is now available. Details of the content is online at:http://www.filmandsound.ac.uk/collections/wellcome.html.

The remainder of the collection of 450 titles will be added in batches in a process due to finish in December 2009.

The journal 'Medicine' is now available electornically again via the University of York. Access via Hull is still being chased.

Trial access to BMJ Best Practice until 16th March

Medpedia

'long-term, worldwide project to evolve a new model for sharing and advancing knowledge about health, medicine and the body among medical professionals and the general public. This model is founded on providing a free online technology platform that is collaborative, interdisciplinary and transparent.

CareKnowledge - new social and health care database

The University of Hull now has a subscription to CareKnowledge (Hull Athens password required). The database can be accessed via the HYMS VLE > HYMS Library tab > Databases.. > Further databases via Hull.. .

Care Knowledge provides access to a wide range of material across social and health care. It contains links to new publications from a wide range of sources (including government/DoH documents).

Journal 'Medicine' unavailable

The journal 'Medicine' is now no longer available electronically via either university library. The serial departments at both libraries are chasing this. In the meantime paper copies of the journal are available at Hull at R 31 M489. Alternatively ILLs of any needed articles can be requested usign your HYMS-paid for quota.
