Kumar eBook issues - but 3 new titles! Davidson & more Kumars

We are encountering some problems with the newly purchased eBook of Kumar & Clark's Clinical Medicine (missing table of contents and problems with the search facility). Elsevier are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. In the meantime, however, they have given us free access for 2012/13 only to:

  • Davidson's Principles and Practice of Medicine
  • Essentials of Kumar and Clark's Medicine
  • Kumar & Clark's Medical Management and Therapeutics

You can access all 5 titles directly at:

 http://elsevieruk.pdn.ipublishcentral.com.ezproxy.york.ac.uk/bookshelf
Just login using your York account > click on Bookshelf and select Online reading option for the title you wish to consult.

We'll be gathering usage stats for all 5 titles but any feedback on how useful you find the titles is very welcome: please send to library@hyms.ac.uk

University of Hull - Brynmor Jones Library Redevelopment

BJL Redevelopment – Enabling work now underway

What’s going on?

The main contractor, BAM, completed their preliminary site set-up last weekend. The external boundary has been secured with temporary fencing until the permanent hoardings are installed. Interior hoardings have also been erected on the ground floor to isolate the south wing of the Library (the former Education Centre).

The permanent hoardings internally and externally will carry information about the project – this will be coming soon.

Service isolation and strip-out of the south wing is now underway.

Demolition work in the south wing will commence on 19 September. Noise levels have been tested and work done during Library opening hours will be kept within agreed limits. Noisier work will be done at night.

Changes for users logging into their University of Hull library account

On Wednesday 5th September University of Hull will be making a change to the way in which their users are able to login to their library account.  Almost all University of Hull users have a campus ID and password and you will be able to use this to login, rather than your surname and the barcode from your ID card, therefore making this more secure and allowing you to use the same credentials you use for other systems on the University of Hull campus.
