University of Hull, Brynmor Jones Library, redevelopment update


The brand new Library Café is now open. The Café is located on the ground floor of the Library to the left of the new south entrance. It provides seating for up to 80 people and offers an exciting new menu of sandwiches, cakes, hot snacks and Barista coffee. There will also be a new breakfast menu. The Library Café is open during the rest of the summer vacation from 08.30 to 16.30 Monday to Friday. Vending machines are available throughout the Library opening hours.

Web of Science: New Features

Web of Science is planning to reveal some new features on 13 July 2014. Details are available at http://wokinfo.com/media/pdf/wok_5_14_releasenotes.pdf.

These include being able to choose the number of search fields you can use in basic search, and the most current Medline data.

Embase: Move your searches from Hull to York

Access to Embase will soon be available only via University of York. If you have searches saved on Embase via your Hull login and want to move them across to York, here's how to do it.

To do this in the Ovid platform (which includes the databases Embase and Medline), go to http://libguides.hull.ac.uk/medicine/FindArticles and follow the link to Medline and Embase.

Login with your York account.

Choose the database you want to use.

Go to My Account. If you do not already have a personal account in Ovid, create a personal account. If you do, sign in.

 Enter your search.

Once the search is complete, click save search history.

 Enter a name for the search and click save.

 The search can be accessed from the My Searches and Alerts area in My Workspace.

You can then re-run the search whenever you want!

University of Hull Library IT system maintenance 15 July 2014

University of Hull ICT have made the following announcement:



Library IT system maintenance

When?: The ICT Department will be conducting essential maintenance work between the hours of 7.30 and 9.30am on Tuesday 15th July 2014.
What does this mean for me?: During this period it will not be possible to check your library account, renew items online, use the self-service issue and return facilities, borrow laptops or obtain copy information from the catalogue, however, other services will be operating as usual.
